WORK ETHICS

Body inclusive: Steph works with clients of any weight, shape, able-ness, or concern "severity" to develop a healthy relationship with eating and their body. She encourages health driven behaviours and body respect and compassion, without a focus on the scale.

Trauma sensitive: Steph is mindful that the majority of people living with mental health concerns have experienced trauma or adverse childhood experiences in their lives. The impact of trauma on physical, emotional and interpersonal wellbeing can be significant. Steph is also aware of how some people’s experience of seeking help has unfortunately been traumatic in itself. Steph values the importance of creating a sense of safety and trust in her therapeutic relationships, providing opportunity for clients to feel involved and empowered in their own treatment.

Collaborative: Steph likes to work with her clients, promoting transparency and choice in all aspects of therapy. She aims to understand her client's unique context, and encourages involvement and communication with other treatment professionals (GPs, dieticians, psychiatrists), family (where appropriate) and others (e.g. school) to comprehensively and holistically support her clients.

Research informed: Steph works from psychological frameworks that have research underpinning their effectiveness. She regularly attends training and workshops, and is a member of a number of associations, to ensure that she stays up to date with latest treatments and recommendations.

Client centred: Steph acknowledges that everyone’s history, experience and response to therapy is different, and can change over time. Steph tailors well-researched psychological interventions in a way that is specific and relevant to the individual.

Authentic: Steph has a down to earth manner and appreciates establishing a genuine connection with her clients. She values authenticity and transparency in her relationships.
